Easter

Conversations with a two year old

Those of you who know Ava know that she is a TALKER! She often says, "You wanna talk about somethin?"
A couple of days ago when she was in one of those "talky moods" before bed, we started talking about when she was a little baby like Jesse. I told her that she was in my belly, too, just like he was. I asked her if she remembered living in my belly. She said, "Yeah, I do remember. It was pink in there. I cried." When I asked her why she cried in my belly, she said, "I cried for Jesus." :)

She says so many funny things that I decided to write them down, so I can show her when she is older. I thought that I would post a few:

"I wanna sing about the devil"
(Referring to the song "Joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart"......"If the devil doesn't like it he can sit on a tack..ouch")

"Good Morning- Is it Christmas?!"
(First thing she said when I walked into her room today- March 26)

"I love you as big as lotion, too!"
(Her response when I told her that I love her "as big as the ocean!")

"Why is daddy always at his other house? Does he sleep there?"
(Her response when I told her that daddy was at work again..she asks where he is everyday)

Under the Weather

Our family has been battling this bug that's been going around for about a week. Ava was sick first and still is to some degree, but is on the mend (I think?) Michael started showing symptoms next (but surprisingly only felt sick for about a day. ) Now Jesse and I have it and it's so sad to see such a little baby cough and be miserable.

The last couple of days have been difficult. I think this is the first time that we've all been sick, especially since having Jesse. It's actually made me realize something important.... I struggle with selfishness every day of my life. It's so difficult to care for your sick kids, when you feel horrible yourself.... Or to get up in the middle of the night to feed a baby when you are burning up with fever. (thanks Michael for taking both shifts last night!)

I am realizing that you can't take sick days when you're a mom (or a dad).

I definitely think God is trying to bring to my attention my weakness of selfishness and to remind me that it didn't magically disappear when I became a mom.... To remind me that I have long way to go :)

No pictures taken lately for obvious reasons- everyone's been in their jammies for most of the day& kiddos with snotty noses :) Hopefully I can get some on this weekend.

Updates:

Jesse's a little brute, he's getting so big! He went for his 2 month check-up and weighed in at
13 1/2 lbs. He loves his swing and he's smiling a lot these days.

Ava is still talking our ears off. She is really into Dora these days. She now has an imaginary friend- "Little Monster." She tells me that Little Monster is blue and that he is really nice. She definitely has a big imagination.
